Here’s a fun Halloween-themed sensory table I set up recently that was a big hit with the group. I called it Pick Your Poison, and the setup gave kids a chance to explore all kinds of spooky textures and pretend play, while staying lighthearted and silly.
The table included things like “zombie fingers,” glow-in-the-dark eyeballs, mini pumpkins, and lots of squishy and crunchy textures to sort, pour, and scoop. I added potion bottles, bowls, and tools for mixing, plus labeled jars and little containers for pretend shopping or spell-making. Above the table, we used simple props like spell books and a haunted house backdrop to help set the scene; nothing fancy, but enough to spark their imaginations.
The kids love pretending to be witches and wizards mixing potions, and it turns into great opportunities for storytelling and sensory exploration. As always, it was a great way to work on fine motor skills and cooperative play, too.
If you’re putting together something seasonal, this one was easy to adapt with materials we already had or could grab on a budget. And the Halloween theme made it extra engaging for little ones who were already excited about the holiday.
