Watch Out! This Caterpillar is Very Hungry!

If there’s one thing we know about the Very Hungry Caterpillar, is that he LOVES to munch, crunch and nibble his way through just about everything! Inspired by Eric Carle’s colorful classic, this sensory bin invites little hands to explore, pretend, and play along with the story.

I filled our bin with bright food-themed pieces, scoops, tongs, etc. so kids can feed their caterpillar in their own way while adding in some other garde ideas and fun! For the fillers with this bin, I used a mixture of lima beans, pom poms, shredded green paper and a baby bottle drying rack (cut in half) to represent grass while serving as an area to hold our flowers!

I used 6″ Chinese lanters to paint and create the caterpillar that borders the top of the pegboard, and made a few leaves out of construction paper to add to the effect. I also cut out VHC printable and laminated them for added visuals. The rest of my items used are listed below the images. Anything not listed was purchased somewhere other than Amazon (Dollar Tree, Hobby Lobby, etc). I also reuse a lot of my sensory items on various themes.

Just a quick note, there are affiliate links so if you decide to make a purchase, I may get a small kickback, but it has no impact on the price you pay nor is it a deciding factor on the products I might recommend.
